A Fond Farewell

Last night was my going away party and it only seemed to aid the bittersweet feelings I am having as I leave. I realize I am only going away for four months, a time period which alternately feels very short and very long, but my departure really marks the end of summer. And what a great summer it was, mostly because of my friends and family. I'm sad knowing that upon my return it will be harder to see some of those amazing people, I was grateful to have a chance to say goodbye and give my love to them. But the greatest and sweetest thing I took away from my party was realizing the excitement and love people have for me as I begin this adventure. I thank you for all those well wishes and sentiments and I happily carry them with me as I leave. I love you all, and leave you with this Irish saying, Slan agus beannacht leat, goodbye and blessings with you.

And So it Begins

I am three weeks away from leaving my friends, family, dog, home and general sense of comfort for three months. In preparation for my departure and as a way to feel connected to all of you I am creating this blog. I will try and update it regularly while in Ireland and as much as possible as I travel through Europe. But now its your turn to write me, any tips, advice or general well wishes will be gladly accepted in the coming weeks. Let me hear you and I hope my blog lives up to its title.
